A strict inspection procedure regulates the population's meat consumption: if you want to eat meat, you have to kill an animal. Young reporter Elie sets off to document the process at the slaughterhouse. But only those who take part are allowed in. Elie has to come to terms with the act of killing. When she comes face to face with the animal, her convictions are put to the test.
